Esthetics School For Male Estheticians

By Esme Spence

From stories it appears that men seem to enjoy their time employed in esthetics (frequently also spelled aesthetics) and taking classes at an esthetics school. Some men may possibly feel very uncomfortable about this industry, though, even if they've an interest. Why is that the case? For quite a while esthetics has been a rather female-dominated industry. Nonetheless, at present, it's become not too strange to discover a guy enrolled at a beauty school or esthetic laser institute. According to some, this can be a good experience for men, but that will come as a surprise to people that still find it to be considered a principally female industry.

First, we shall talk about why this can be a significant subject, and why men and beauty have a new connection. Further, we shall consider men's experiences that show it may not be perfect for a male esthetics school student. Finally, we shall contemplate the reactions of some men who have been estheticians and thought that being a male was good for them in the long run.

Many people still consider the beauty industry to be a female dominated one. To be sure, the vast majority of beauty school students are women. However, today more men are finding acceptance in both employee and clientele roles in aesthetics. So it's not quite the shock that it once may have been when men look to esthetics school for a new career.

Nevertheless, it is still relatively common for an aesthetic laser institute or beauty school to only have a few or even no male students. Some men have suggested it is certainly not always that good to be a male esthetician student. One man explained that he had to deal with what he called a battle with the opposite gender, as some female classmates were competitive with him. Men who choose to go to this kind of program should ensure that they're prepared to perhaps feel very isolated at times. Still another man has stated that when he first finished school it had been very difficult to find work, and he ended up having to start his own business, which can be quite difficult.

On another hand, numerous male aestheticians or men attending an esthetics school have commented on men within the beauty business. One retired male esthetician has stated that being a man had seemed to be an advantage for him over his time on this job. Yet another man said he was recently graduated from a beauty school and said that many female clients liked his male perspective, and that he was a bit of a novelty in his area.

Maybe it's a difficult but rewarding experience for many, but all male esthetics students might have varying experiences at an esthetics school or aesthetic laser institute.
