The Requirements Of Orlando Golf Courses

By Carmella Watts

Golf is a sport that is played by the rich and the elite in the society. It is played on lush and luxurious golf courses that have an amazing aesthetic beauty to them. Most of the Orlando golf courses are included in the maps that point out the location of various pitches in the city.

Setting aside such an area requires a lot of input in terms of money, time and labor. First determine if the project is a feasible one before making a decision to undertake it. An expert, usually a golf architect is hired for the purpose of surveying and ascertaining that the piece of land which is to be built on is suitable.

The climate of the area facilitates constant water supply especially through rain water. This enables the trees to be leafy and the grass to be green all year round. This maintains the ambiance and aesthetic value of this landscape.

In places where there is no natural supply of water, arrangements are made to provide for irrigation of the landscape. Otherwise, they can plant drought-resistant breeds of grass that do not require a large amount of water to sustain. The plan of the pitch should be that it requires less water for irrigation, hence less grass planted. This then means that there are more trees and water bodies. With less grass also comes reduced requirement of pesticides to kill weeds.

Generally, the fields that are positioned near residential areas demand a higher parcel of land as compared to those that are away from residences. This is because they have to dedicate a portion for the establishment of safety margins. As most of the fields are average in size, they have a total of 18 holes. There is always space set aside for the practice sessions.

The landscape in which the fields are found is neither too steep nor too flat. A little slope is needed for the proper drainage of the water that passes through the land. This therefore prevents paddles of water from forming on the grass when it rains or when the sprinkles are turned on. The greens, tees and fairways are constantly trimmed to maintain their beauty and appeal. The bumps on the grasses have to be eliminated to prevent any challenges while making accurate shots.

People are usually encouraged to walk on the cemented paths that run through the grass so as to maintain the manicured lawns. In order to make the sport more challenging, bunkers of sand are installed alongside the trees and water bodies. The plan of the pitch should be such that the golfer can engage mentally in the whole sport.

Orlando golf courses also have social features in or near the fields. Parking lots are essential for the players and other individuals to park their cars. There is also a shed which houses the green-keeper who maintains the landscape at the appropriate standards. The clubhouses found there are used by the players to clean up and relax before and after the sessions.
